What is UCR?
The Unified Carrier Registration (UCR) program, established under 49 U.S.C. § 14504a, is an annual fee-based registration that every interstate motor carrier, broker, freight forwarder, and leasing company must complete. Fees scale by fleet size and fund state enforcement of motor-carrier regulations. UCR runs on a calendar year — registration opens in October for the following year.
Beyond UCR, many states require additional operating permits — Oregon weight-mile tax, New Mexico WDT, Kentucky KYU, New York HUT, Connecticut HUT — each with its own filing schedule and fee structure. We track which states apply to your operation and file each permit on time.
